Ingredients:
- 4 cups of bread cubes (use any bread of your choice; stale bread works well)
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 cup raisins or chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare Bread Cubes: Cut the bread into cubes and set aside. If your bread is fresh, you can dry it out a bit by leaving the cubes uncovered for a few hours or toasting them lightly.
- Prepare Custard Mixture: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined. If you’re using raisins or nuts, you can add them to the custard mixture.
- Combine Bread and Custard: Place the bread cubes into the custard mixture and gently fold until all the cubes are coated. Let the mixture sit for about 15-20 minutes, allowing the bread to absorb the custard.
- Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 320°F (160°C) for a few minutes.
- Prepare Baking Dish: Lightly grease a baking dish that fits into your air fryer basket. Transfer the bread and custard mixture into the baking dish.
- Air Frying: Place the baking dish into the air fryer basket. Air fry for about 15-20 minutes, checking at the 15-minute mark for doneness. The pudding should be set and slightly golden on top.
- Check for Doneness: Use a toothpick or knife to check the center of the bread pudding. If it comes out clean, the pudding is ready.
- Serve: Once done, remove the bread pudding from the air fryer and let it cool for a few minutes. Serve warm, either on its own or with a dollop of whipped cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce.
