Easy 12-Minute Air Fryer Smashed Potatoes

🧾 Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) baby potatoes (Yukon gold or red)

  • 1½ tbsp olive oil

  • ½ tsp salt (or to taste)

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)

  • ½ tsp paprika or smoked paprika (optional)

  • Fresh herbs (parsley or chives), for garnish

  • Optional toppings: grated Parmesan, sour cream, ranch, or garlic butter


👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Parboil the potatoes

    • Place potatoes in a pot of salted water.

    • Bring to a boil and cook 8–10 minutes, until fork-tender.

    • Drain and let steam dry for 2 minutes.

  2. Smash

    • Place potatoes on a plate or cutting board.

    • Gently smash each potato using the bottom of a glass or fork.

  3. Season

    • Brush or drizzle both sides with olive oil.

    • Sprinkle with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.

  4. Air fry

    • Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C).

    • Place potatoes in a single layer in the basket.

    • Air fry for 12 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.

  5. Serve

    • Garnish with herbs or Parmesan.

    • Add your favorite toppings and serve hot.

  • Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket.

  • Use slightly more oil for ultra-crispy edges.

  • Add Parmesan during the last 2 minutes for a cheesy crust.
