Description
This Air Fryer Cheesy Toast Sandwich is crispy, golden, and loaded with gooey melted cheese. It’s incredibly easy to make and perfect for breakfast, a quick lunch, an afternoon snack, or a simple comfort-food treat. The air fryer gives the bread a beautifully toasted outside while keeping the cheesy center warm and delicious.
Ingredients
- 4 slices sandwich bread
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp softened butter
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp Italian seasoning
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tbsp grated Parmesan, optional
Instructions
- Prepare the cheese mixture:
In a bowl, combine mozzarella, cheddar, mayonnaise, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, black pepper, and Parmesan if using. - Prepare the bread:
Spread softened butter lightly over one side of each bread slice. - Build the sandwiches:
Place the cheese mixture evenly between two slices of bread, keeping the buttered sides facing outward. - Preheat the air fryer:
Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes. - Air fry:
Place the sandwiches in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 5–7 minutes, flipping halfway through. - Check the cheese:
Continue cooking for another 1–2 minutes if needed, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is completely melted. - Serve:
Carefully remove the hot sandwiches, let them cool for 1–2 minutes, then slice and serve.
Pro Tips
- Use thick-cut bread for a crispier, sturdier sandwich.
- Don’t overfill with cheese because it can spill out while cooking.
- For extra flavor, add a little chili flakes or smoked paprika.
- Air fryers vary, so keep an eye on the bread during the last few minutes.
- Serve with tomato soup, pickles, or a fresh salad.
