Ingredients
For the Chicken:
- 1 1/2 pounds chicken tenders or chicken breasts cut into strips
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 cups breadcrumbs (Panko for extra crunch)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- Cooking oil (vegetable, canola, or peanut oil)
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken:
- Season the chicken strips with salt and pepper.
- Set Up the Breading Station:
- Place the flour in a shallow dish.
- In another shallow dish, whisk together the eggs and milk.
- In a third shallow dish, combine the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese (if using), paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, and thyme.
- Bread the Chicken Strips:
- Dredge each chicken strip in the flour, shaking off any excess.
- Dip the floured chicken strip into the egg mixture, ensuring it is fully coated.
- Finally, coat the chicken strip with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing lightly to adhere the breadcrumbs to the chicken.
- Heat the Oil:
- In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat about 1/2 inch of oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the Chicken Strips:
- Carefully place the breaded chicken strips in the hot oil, working in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan.
- Fry for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the chicken strips are golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
- Transfer the fried chicken strips to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Serve:
- Serve the crispy chicken strips hot with your favorite dipping sauces, such as honey mustard, ranch, or barbecue sauce.
