Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional, for sweetness)
  • Hot dog buns, for serving
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheese, chopped onions, diced tomatoes, pickles, mustard, etc.

Instructions:

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned and cooked through, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Transfer the cooked ground beef to the slow cooker. Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, tomato sauce, tomato paste, beef broth, chili powder, ground cumin, paprika, dried oregano, salt, pepper, and brown sugar (if using). Stir until well combined.
  3. Cover the slow cooker and cook the chili on low for 4-6 hours, or until the flavors are well blended and the chili has thickened to your desired consistency. Stir occasionally, if possible.
  4. Once the chili is done cooking, taste and adjust the seasoning, if needed.
  5. Serve the hot dog chili warm in hot dog buns, topped with your favorite toppings such as shredded cheese, chopped onions, diced tomatoes, pickles, mustard, etc.
