Homemade Apple Cinnamon Swirl Loaf

Ingredients:

For the  apple filling:

  • 2 medium  apples, peeled, cored, and finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

For the cinnamon swirl:

  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

For the loaf:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Apple Filling:
    • In a small bowl, combine the chopped apples with lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the Cinnamon Swirl:
    • In another small bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon for the swirl. Set aside.
  3. Prepare the Batter:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
    • In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
    • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
    • Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix just until combined.
  4. Assemble the Loaf:
      • Spread half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan.

    • Sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture over the batter, then spoon half of the apple mixture on top.
    • Repeat the layers with the remaining batter, cinnamon sugar, and apples.
    • Use a knife to gently swirl through the batter to create a marbled effect.
  5. Bake the Loaf:
    • Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
    • If the top starts to brown too quickly, cover loosely with aluminum foil.
    • Allow the loaf to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Serve:
    • Slice and enjoy your homemade apple cinnamon swirl loaf!
