Ingredients:
For the apple filling:
- 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
For the cinnamon swirl:
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
For the loaf:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk
Instructions:
- Prepare the Apple Filling:
- In a small bowl, combine the chopped apples with lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon. Set aside.
- Prepare the Cinnamon Swirl:
- In another small bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon for the swirl. Set aside.
- Prepare the Batter:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix just until combined.
- Assemble the Loaf:

- Sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture over the batter, then spoon half of the apple mixture on top.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining batter, cinnamon sugar, and apples.
- Use a knife to gently swirl through the batter to create a marbled effect.
