DIY Ginger, Onion, Garlic & Honey Oxymel / Tonic
Description
This powerful traditional home remedy combines powerful natural ingredients known for their wellness-supporting properties. Featuring grated or chopped ginger, onion, garlic, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and raw honey, this potent tonic is often used to soothe seasonal discomforts, support immune health, and provide a warming, nutrient-packed boost.
Ingredients
-
1/2 cup fresh ginger, grated or finely minced
-
1/2 cup onion, finely chopped or sliced
-
1/4 cup garlic cloves, minced or crushed
-
1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
-
1/2 to 3/4 cup raw, organic honey (enough to submerge the aromatics and fill the jar)
Instructions
-
Prepare the Aromatics: Peel and finely chop or grate your fresh ginger, onion, and garlic.
-
Combine in a Jar: Place the prepared ginger, onion, and garlic into a clean, sterilized glass mason jar.
-
Add Lemon Juice: Pour the fresh lemon juice directly over the mixture.
-
Pour the Honey: Slowly pour the raw honey over the contents until all the vegetables are completely submerged and the jar is nearly full. Stir gently with a clean utensil to release any trapped air bubbles.
-
Infuse (Macerate): Seal the jar tightly. Let it sit at room temperature for 12 to 24 hours (or allow it to ferment slightly in a cool, dark place for a few days) so the honey can draw out the juices and active compounds from the onion, garlic, and ginger.
-
How to Use: Take 1 spoonful of the liquid syrup as needed for a wellness boost, or strain the mixture if you prefer just the infused honey liquid.
