  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (optional)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

  • ½ cup beef broth or water (if needed)

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

  5. Add the paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  6. Stir in the diced tomatoes (and tomato paste if using).
  7. Add the chopped cabbage and mix well.
  8. If the mixture seems dry, add the beef broth or water.
  9. Cover and cook over medium-low heat for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender.
  10. Taste and adjust seasoning before serving.
