Ingredients
- 1 small cabbage, chopped
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1 (15 oz/425 g) can diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp olive oil (optional)
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt (or to taste)
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tbsp tomato paste (optional, for richer flavor)
- ½ cup beef broth or water (if needed)
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Add the onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.
- Stir in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Add the paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes (and tomato paste if using).
- Add the chopped cabbage and mix well.
- If the mixture seems dry, add the beef broth or water.
- Cover and cook over medium-low heat for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender.
- Taste and adjust seasoning before serving.

- 1 cup cooked rice (to make it more filling)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese (melt on top before serving)
- 1 diced bell pepper
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce for extra flavor
